1. Bentwood Caned Chairs
It’s no secret that caned chairs have been making a resurgence, especially as dining room seating. While beautiful in all spaces, we’ve recently been loving this look in the kitchen. Here, the natural materials of the TON bentwood chairs, opens in a new tab bring warmth and texture, softening a room that can otherwise lean sterile.

2. An All-Tile Wall
The simplicity and sheer impact of using all one tile on the wall is a design tip to take note of. Above, Kaitlin opted for a neutral palette to keep the space feeling fresh and modern. The vertical orientation of the tile also helps draw the eye up to the skylights while creating contrast from the horizontal lines of the open shelving and kitchen cabinet pulls.

3. Functional Accessories
There’s the iconic adage, “form follows function,” but who says you can’t have both? Pictured above, the Stendig Calendar, opens in a new tab adds a bold statement while serving as a practical daily marker.
Look around and ask yourself if any household goods are an eyesore. Then find a creative solution — splurge on a design-forward wall clock, opens in a new tab, thrift for a vintage vessel, opens in a new tab to house unsightly knick-knacks, or keep things beautifully organized with an all-purpose tray, opens in a new tab.

4. Lagom Inspired Picks
If you’ve been following along with Scandinavian-inspired home design, there’s a good chance you’ve already heard this word before. Lagom is a Swedish word that roughly translates to “just the right amount.” The general idea is that you hone your interior aesthetic based on your preference — adding or removing items until the room feels complete but not cluttered.
Case in point, the living room in this modern home has a cohesive yet calming palette with a little pattern sprinkled in. The rug provides just enough texture, while the material mix from the accent chairs, throw pillows, opens in a new tab, and floor lamp, opens in a new tab adds visual variety.

5. Sculptural Lighting
Lighting, opens in a new tab is our bread and butter here, which is why we feel that it's extra important to have an ambient yet efficiently-lit interior. The light fixtures in Kaitlin's home are each unique yet share a common theme — the silhouettes are clean and offer a sculptural quality.
While each space presents its own illumination needs, we always opt for timeless fixtures that can work with an array of styles. As your design needs change or evolve, your lighting picks can be re-styled or re-homed to different parts of your space.
